Back in February, we first heard rumors about a new 16-inch MacBook Pro redesign. Since then, on Apple’s next generation laptop, we’ve heard even more about what exactly to do. Today, Chinese website post Chongdiantou (via Weibo) — posted an alleged photo of a new USB-C power adapter for Apple 96W. This adapter is designed to work with the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, according to their sources.
A blurred photo shows the bottom of a charger with the “96W USB-C Power Adapter” and “Designed by Apple in California— Assembled in China” labels just like the official power adapter from Apple.
It is important to note that a charger with this power is not actually used by any MacBook. A 61W USB-C adapter is mandatory for the 13-inch MacBook Pro, while the 15-inch version uses an 87W adapter.
For Apple reports, the Chinese website has a good track history We were right in the past when the latest 18W USB-C charger that comes with the iPhone 11 Pro shared some images.
What is even more fascinating is that the new Pro Display XDR will charge devices up to 96W via its Thunderbolt 3 connection according to Apple itself.
If Apple is planning to launch a more powerful MacBook Pro, a more powerful source would definitely be needed to work. The updated 16-inch MacBook Pro is supposed to feature smaller edges, improved processors, and even a new scissor-switch-based keyboard mechanism. If the company decides to hold another special event this year, Apple may announce it as early as this month.
