But not the only thing like Face ID was the functionality: Samsung blatantly copied the icon of Apple.

The rounded edges of the corner, removing the straight sections. The eyes of the vertical. The nose in the form of the J. The smile’s proportions.
With his Apple clones, Samsung can not even use Xiaomi’s unconvincing excuse here.
When you design an icon to represent a face, vertical eyes are not Samsung’s obvious choice.
As noted by John Gruber, the design was an Apple one in specific, as it was a throwback to the Finder icon used back in 1984 on the very first Macintosh way. That’s why the eyes are vertical.
